1. Depeche Mode - But Not Tonight
Heard when: Kelly is in her room and the end credits

The story behind But Not Tonight: Depeche Mode wrote "But Not Tonight" in about, 5 minutes. They also took their time and effort on the song, "Stripped". The record company (as a tie-in) thought BNT had more potential as an A-side, and released Stripped as the B-Side. This (allegedly) pissed DM off, and this is (apparently) the reason Music For The Masses, their follow up album was made. Depeche Mode did not really like the song all too much, and they were not all too thrilled about the movie either, but the record company just swooshed it together with the movie, making a lot of Depeche Mode fans puzzled as to
A. Why BNT was the a-side and Stripped was the b-side?
B. Why weren't the lyrics in with the single version of their 1986 album Black Celebration?

Well here are the answers I got from the Depeche Mode website (www.depeche-mode.com)
The record company threw the song into the movie last minute and wanted a tie in to promote the movie more. So they released the song as the a-side to Stipped. And as for the lyrics not being there with the album; the record company decided to release it on Black Celebration at the last minute and they only show the title and writing credits, for lack of time. And if you're a hard core MG fan, you've noticed it that the version on Black Celebration is different then the version from Modern Girls. Also, Depeche Mode has never played this song live.

Other songs in the movie that are not included on the soundtrack:

You may know that there were a bunch more songs in the movie that did not make it onto the acutal soundtrack, so here is a listing of all of the others and what scene you would find them in the movie....

"Bond of Addiction" & "Safare" - Scott Rogness
Heard when: Oh, everywhere! On MTV, in the first club, when Cliffy is with the "Dancing Nazi's" and when they are driving around about to get their tires popped.....

*You think that was actually Clayton Rohner's voice for all the Bruno X songs? Nope. It was actually a guy by the name of Scott Rogness (Who is actually billed as Rogness Scott in the movie) who gets the credit for the tunes "Safare" and "Bond of Addiction." Also, a bit of trivia, he did the music and vocals for the Tom Hanks movie, That Thing You Do!

"Game I Can't Win" - Dennis Quaid
Heard when: Kelly, Milo & Tanya are sitting at the table in Sharkey's

"Something Inside Me Has Died" - Kommunity FK
Heard when: It is in the scene where Cliffy is acting like Bruno on the phone.

"Passion" - Lions & Ghosts
Heard when: Brad makes out with/dumps Kelly

"Love Changes" - Jackie Warren
Heard when: When Ray & Kelly are in his jeep and he asks if she likes the song.

"Eyes of Fire" - Chris Nash
Heard when: It's only a theory, but a fellow Modern Girls fan pointed out that it could be the scene where CeCe is putting the "flame" colored makeup on the old lady's eyes (hence, "Eyes of Fire")

"Everywhere I Go" - The Call
Heard when: Cece is setting her clock, in the car on their way to the first club and in the car when Kelly sqwaks like a bird

"Roof's On Fire" - The Band Of...Blacky Ranchette
Heard when: This is playing when the girls and Cliffy rescue Kelly in Sharky's.

"Iko Iko" - The Belle Stars
Heard when: In Club Voodoo as Kelly and Cliffy "attempt" to limbo.

"Angels In The Night" - France Joli
Heard When: Cece tells Margo she got fired.

"Dont Think Twice" - France Joli
Heard when: Playing in the car with Kelly and Margo after work and at the club (when Brad goes, "OH!" in the mic).

*Also is heard in the movie, Thrashin' starring Josh Richman.

"Dancin"-Chris Isaak.
Heard when: Cliffy is waiting (and waiting) for the girls to get ready.
